Aquatic Ecology Methods

The course consists of 14 days of intensive field work normally held at an off-campus location. Professional techniques in aquatic ecology are taught that include quantitative sampling, sample preservation, data logging, data management, and post-collection sample processing for fish, aquatic plants, algae, zooplankton, invertebrates, and water chemistry. Certificates are awarded for demonstrated proficiency in course material. Students must indicate their intention to register in the course by the end of the prior winter term. Note that a special course fee is required to cover the cost of transportation, lodging and meals. PREREQ: Permission of the school; Recommended: ENSC 2206 - Aquatic Ecology. (exp 3) cr 3.
