You also have the option to get hands-on training through working in the industry during the 16-month co-op program, which you can start in your second year.

My time at Laurentian was a fulfilling and valuable experience. Sudbury is a world-wide hub for mineral processing innovation with countless industry resources right in the city. I was able to learn principles of extractive metallurgy from knowledgeable professors and laboratory technicians with experience in the mineral processing industry while forging rewarding industry connections.
I am now working as a member of a dynamic consultancy team applying the knowledge I obtained about the mineral processing industry throughout my undergraduate degree to real life scenarios. This not only gives me the opportunity to further develop my skills and knowledge, but allows me to bring more hands-on experience.
Studying chemical engineering at Laurentian allowed me to develop analytical and technical skills to my advantage so that I could pursue a career in environmental sustainability. I also made great connections with fellow students and professors due to the small class sizes.
This led me to pursue a masters degree at Laurentian where I can apply the skills I learned first hand to northern Ontario industries in need of economical and technically feasible solutions to environmental remediation.
I loved taking chemical engineering at Laurentian - I learnt a lot and it importantly allowed me to keep my options open for the future!
I always wanted to work in medicine, and I am now enrolled in a graduate degree pursuing that dream!
One of my favourite aspects about the chemical engineering program at Laurentian is the collaboration and involvement with regional industries. This gave me the opportunity to learn about many interesting ongoing projects in the community, and meet and work with many different professionals.
After finishing my undergraduate degree, I returned to work on a Ph.D. in Engineering Science which in collaboration with industry allowed me to develop an area I became very interested in during my undergraduate years.
